What's IMAP?

IMAP stands for Internet Message Access Protocol. With IMAP, your emails are stored on your provider's mail servers, not on your local computer. When you read an email using IMAP, you're reading it directly from your mail server and not downloading it to your local computer or device. IMAP lets you access your email from anywhere and with multiple devices. If you're deciding between a POP or IMAP account, you'll probably want an IMAP account. For more information, see What is the difference between POP and IMAP?.
