Restore a website from a cPanel backup file in Linux Hosting
You can restore a hacked or damaged website from a backup file. How you complete the restore depends on how you created the backup:
I used... | To restore your website... |
---|---|
A manual backup I made in cPanel | Follow the steps in this article |
Site Backup | See Restore my website using Site Backup |
A local backup (I have the backup file on my computer) | See Upload your files via FTP |
Note: No backup file? Contact a GoDaddy Guide for assistance.
- Go to your GoDaddy product page.
- Under Web Hosting, next to the Linux Hosting account you want to use, click Manage.
- In the account Dashboard, click cPanel Admin.
- In the cPanel Home page, in the Files section, click Backup.
- In the Restore a Home Directory Backup area, click Browse and then select the backup file (file name ends in tar.gz) on your local computer.
- Click Upload. cPanel begins the restore, and when complete you'll see a (long) list of all the files that were restored.
