This article will show you how to install git on Shared Web Hosting

Install Git

First, you need to log in to your Web Hosting account via SSH. See this help article for questions on using SSH.

Navigate to your home directory, and download the proper RPM. In this example we will be using git

From your home directory, run the following command:

Then, unpack the tar file:

tar -zxf git-

And cd into the newly created git- directory

cd git-

Make sure that it is installed:

~/opt/usr/bin/git --version
git version

Get git on your path and tell Git not to do SSL verification. If you haven't already, create a ~/.bash_profile file and add the following to it:

export GIT_SSL_NO_VERIFY=true
export PATH

Make sure these settings are working correctly by running the following command:

source ~/.bash_profile

Check the version

git --version
git version

There you have it, git is now installed on your Web Hosting Account.
