Linux vs Windows Hosting

I am currently in the process of deciding on whether to use Linux or Windows for hosting. I am wondering how much experience I need to have with Linux to be able to work with it. I currently have the most basic understanding of how to use the operating system. Also, what are the pros and cons of each? Thanks in advance.

Re: Linux vs Windows Hosting

Hi @bjhunt918,

in the godaddy environment I don't see much difference, in the world environment all the most powerful servers run on Linux or a unix variant, such as BSD, not windows. But it's just simply down to what you are most comfortable with. If your background is with windows, go for this, if Linux then go for that.

Re: Linux vs Windows Hosting

Unless you are planning to get into ASP programming, a Linux hosting account should do you just fine. If you have to ask, "What is ASP?" then a Linux hosting account will be just fine. ^_^

FYI, the GoDaddy page comparing the two is here:
