I have a php instance running in my shared hosting. However, when I try to use oci8 to connect to an oracle database, I run into problems. I can connect to it from my local computer, but not from my shared hosting. I went to cpanel and added the host under external databases, but if I understand correctly it only allows the mysql port. I can't change it to allow the oracle port (1521).
Considering that when I connect via ssh, I can't even do a ping (due to shared hosting restrictions), is it possible that the php instance running isn't allowed to connect to external databases?
Hello ttiole, I hope you are well. To interact with Oracle Database , you must typically connect to the database as a database user. The interaction might be through the SQL Command Line, through SQL Developer, or through utilities invoked from the system command line.
