How to add nameservers to my domain according to my external servers?

I've read and tried to use my own publicaly available DNS servers in the 'Nameservers' section of my Manage DNS. To no avail. It keeps telling me there is a problem. Is there some secret trick to getting them to stick? Do I need to have customer support do it somehow on their backend? Or am I missing something.

I have my own DNS Servers and they are working internally. I want to make them authoritative on the outside too!

Thanks for any help!!

Re: How to add nameservers to my domain according to my external servers?

Hi @rekholm. Thanks for being part of GoDaddy Community! It depends on what you're trying to do. If you want to use your own nameservers(ns1.mydomain.com), you would need to register your nameserver hosts first. Then you'd be able to use them for the domain. If you've already done that, you should be able to update your domain to use custom nameservers by following these steps. I hope that helps.
